Embracing U is a non-profit breast cancer foundation that was established by three breast cancer survivors from James Island, South Carolina: Cynthia Smalls, Sonya W. Simmons, and Odessah W. Mackey.

We decided, as a foundation, to ask Elder Patricia B. Jones, to be the workshop presenter at our inaugural support group session. That session occurred on August 17, 2011 at James Island Charter School Library.

The survivors, co-survivors, and Embracing U founders and board were brought into an interactive discussion about journaling and how to assist in cleansing the spirit and improving daily living.

Embracing U has always admired and respected Elder Jones for her commitment to community and the work she does in the community. We appreciated her giving of her time and talents to enlighten our support group.
